The Midview Local Schools would like to welcome and extend
our congratulations to Dr. Bruce Willingham, Jr., who was hired as the
district’s next superintendent. He will begin his duties on Aug. 1.
To find the right candidate, the best fit for Midview, the
Board of Education launched an extensive search process that began in March
with the hiring of K-12 Business Consulting. The company was chosen out of six options
that were considered. K-12 had the most experience, the fee structure was
within the budget and their timeline worked best with Midview’s. This timeline
was posted on the district’s website, as were the qualifications the Board was
looking for in a superintendent.
Through K-12’s recommended process, we narrowed the initial pool
of 26 candidates down to 7. One of these candidates dropped out, leaving the
board with six to interview. The Board then conducted extensive interviews to
get to the final three. On April 28, prior to the community Meet and Greet, the
Board met in executive session to interview the final three candidates.
The Meet and Greet for the final three candidates was a key
element of the search process and a priority for the Board of Education. We
appreciate the feedback we received from those in attendance. The Board
reconvened in executive session at the Board Office after the Meet and Greet,
where every feedback form was reviewed and community comments were considered. The
vote to hire Dr. Willingham occurred at the special board meeting on May 1.
Time was of the essence during the search process, as the
Board wanted to choose from the most qualified candidates available. Community
input was an important component, and the Board insisted on hearing from the
Midview community. The Board has historically used the Meet and Greet format as
part of the superintendent search process.
Our goal throughout the process was to be as transparent as
possible while finding the best person to lead Midview. We would like to thank
everyone who participated in the community Meet and Greet, as your feedback
helped the Board make its final decision.
We are excited for the future of Midview!
